Found in the remote desert of western Egypt near the Libyan border, Libyan Desert Glass is evidence of a long-ago cosmic event. These fragments of canary-yellow glass are scattered over hundreds of kilometers, between huge shifting sand dunes.
Each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity and is approximately 2.5 cm x 2 cm, weighing 7.8 grams.
Known as impactite, Libyan Desert glass or Great Sand Sea glass is primarily composed of lechatelierite.
It is commonly found in the deserts of eastern Libya and western Egypt, covering large areas of up to tens of square kilometers.
